NSE Celebrates Global Money Week

The Nigerian Stock Exchange in partnership with Access Bank Plc, marked this year's Global Money Week by hosting a series of educational programs aimed at engaging young people in knowledge sharing on how money works, saving, investing, creating livelihood, gaining employment and entrepreneurship. This year's Global Money Week, themed "Take Part, Save Smart" took place between 14th and 20th of March, 2016.

Global Money Week which is a global movement to raise awareness of the importance of financial education and financial inclusion for children and youth is led by Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), a non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam.

Activities for the week included a Closing Gong ceremony event at the Exchange, excursions to the trading floor, interactive session with executive management of the Exchange, financial literacy fair and s​chool outreach programmes.

According to Bola Adeeko, Head, Corporate Services Divi​sion of The Nigerian Stock Exchange, “This is one of many intervention programmes of the Exchange to build a financially savvy generation of future leaders. The children and youths are an important component of planning our future as a nation and we must imbue them good financial skills that assures a secure and great future for them".

On his part, Head of Corporate Communications of the NSE, Mr. Olumide Orojimi said, "for the past two years, NSE has been able to directly reach over 600 students and pupils from over 30 secondary and primary schools with an indirect effect on about 4000 young people across its operating environment".​​
